Letterbox Love #5

Hey! It's half term so I've got a week off exams so I'm hoping to post a couple of times this week, but we'll see how that goes! I thought I'd do a Letterbox Love as I've not done one for ages, and it'll give me a little bit of time to write a review for you guys, because I owe you one (at least!) ;) so, here's what I've received recently!

Gloss by Marilyn Kaye (Macmillan Children's Books, 6th June 2013)
I'm really excited to read this one, it sounds great! I love historical New York-y fashion-y kind of things, if that makes sense (like, Flappers are awesome and I love Gossip Girl (which I know's not historical but whatever :P )) so I'm really looking forward to this one. Thanks Macmillan!

Spy for the Queen of Scots by Theresa Breslin (Corgi, paperback release: 6th June 2013)
I'd not heard of this before I received it, however I do like a good historical like this now and then so if I have time and it takes my fancy, I'll give it a go. Thank you to Random House for this!

Spy Society by Robin Benway (Simon and Schuster Children's Books, 18th July 2013)
AHHH you guys I am SO excited for this one! I'm on the blog tour in July so you'll be hearing a lot more about this one from me, but I definitely cannot wait to read this one. I'm saving it for a treat once I've finished my final exam, I think, if I can wait that long (we'll see ;) ) Thanks Simon and Schuster!

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas (Simon and Schuster Children's Books, 18th July 2013)
Another one from S&S that I'm very excited about! I was very lucky to receive a US proof of this one so I'm very excited to read this one, so look out for a review closer to release! Thanks again S&S!

Angelfall by Susan Ee (Hodder, available now)
Thanks so much for this Hodder, this sounds pretty good so if I've got time I'll give it a read :)

Lockwood & Co by Jonathon Stroud (Doubleday, 29th August 2013)
Not heard of this one until I received it, again, but it actually sounds really good and the letter that came with it that kind of acts like a press release made it sound really good! Looking forward to giving this one a read, although I still don't really know that much about it! Thanks Random House :)

Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robyn Schneider (Simon & Schuster Children's Books, 15th August 2013)
I'm SO EXCITED for this one! I've only heard good things so far and it's been compared to John Green so how could I not want to read it?! Thanks Simon & Schuster!

Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer (Hodder, 25th June 2013)
I already have a hardcover copy of this one, and I still haven't read it but it sounds quite good so maybe I'll give it a read sometime over summer. Thanks to Hodder for this one!

Midwinterblood by Marcus Sedgwick (Indigo, released)
I got this at a school event that I attended in April, and it was really great. Marcus is super cool and I'm definitely looking forward to giving this a read!

Nowhere by Jon Robinson (Puffin, 4th July 2013)
This one sounds really interesting and I haven't read a thriller for a long time so I'm excited! Thanks for Puffin for this one.

Goddess by Josephine Angelini (Macmillan Children's Books, released)
EEEP! Not much I need to say about this one, I don't think, just that I'm excited and I can't wait to find out how it ends! Thanks to Macmillan for this one.

Invisibility by Andrea Cremer and David Levithan (Penguin, released)
I'm halfway through this one now and I'm really enjoying it. It's very weird and I'm still getting my head around the fact that it's about an invisible boy, but more plot points are being introduced and I'm getting used to it and it's really, really good. Thanks Penguin!

You Don't Know Me by Sophie Bennett (Chicken House, released)
This one looks good and I've only heard good things about Sophia's other book, The Look, so I'm looking forward to giving this a read, probably over the summer. Thanks Chicken House!

The School for Good and Evil  After Eden (After Eden, #1)

The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani (HarperCollins Children's Books, 6th June 2013)
This one sounds really fun and I love the cover. I'm very excited to give this a read! Thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for this.

After Eden by Helen Douglas (Bloomsbury, 4th July 2013)
I read this one on the plane back from my holiday to Sicily in the Easter holidays, and it was okay. I liked it, but there were quite a lot of things that I found unbelievable or strange. It's about time travel though and I do love books about time travel! Look out for my review soon. Thanks to Bloomsbury and NetGalley for this.

Thanks for reading! Which of these do you think I should read first, or have you read any that are good? Let me know in the comments box below and also feel free to leave me a link to your Letterbox Loves or In My Mailboxes.

Happy reading!

Monthly Round-Up: August

Hello! So it's been another month (they go so fast), and I still haven't been up to much on the blog. I have no excuse, I think this is just how I do now so. I'm pretty sure any one who still reads my blog knows the deal by now. Anyway, apart from that, August has been a pretty good month for me! It's pretty much just been a whole month of doing nothing and reading, and it was my birthday. So that was nice. And there was a whole bunch of events which were a lot of fun and which I am going to tell you to much about at some point in this post.  Books read Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet by Bernie Sue and Kate Rorick Through the Woods by Emily Carroll The Agency: The Traitor in the Tunnel by Y S Lee Starring Kitty by Keris Stainton This Book is Gay by James Dawson Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones (reread) Skulduggery Pleasant: Last Stand of Dead Men by Derek Landy Total: 9 A...

Monthly Round-Up: January

So January's been a bit of a slow month for me again, but January is always just kind of depressing and boring so I feel like I can be let off the hook a bit because of that. Though this January wasn't as awful and boring as it could have been because I got some lovely books and got to go to some lovely events and see lovely people. Books Read: The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley Wolf-Speaker by Tamora Pierce The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead Vicious by V E Schwab Emperor Mage by Tamora Pierce The Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce Dead Ends by Erin Lange So, only 8 books this January, but I liked all of them. Though I feel like I should probably start reading more books from this century again... But I can kind of see where the whole Tamora Pierce lovefest thing has come from now. I wasn't that keen on the Alanna books when I read the first two around this time last year, but the I got on with the Immortals series much better. Mayb...

Dead Ends review

Dead Ends Erin Lange February 6th 2014 (UK) Faber (UK) Dane Washington and Billy D. couldn't be more different. Dane is clever and popular, but he's also a violent rebel. Billy D. has Down's syndrome, plays by the rules and hangs out with teachers in his lunch break. But Dane and Billy have more in common than they think - both their fathers are missing. They're going to have to suck up their differences and get on with helping each other. There are answers to be found. Powerful, funny, moving - the ultimate coming-of-age novel . I was a little surprised at how much I properly liked Dead Ends. I knew that I would like it, of course, because books about friendship are kind of what I'm all about a lot of the time. Don't know if I've ever mentioned that (I've definitely mentioned that I'm always going on about friendships I LOVE THEM). But I read it while I was having a bit of a Tamora Pierce thing and I thought I was only in the mood for 90s YA fantasy...
